Generative A.I. 201 - Verifying Generative A.I. Content
Synopsis
ChatGPT and other generative A.I. tools are increasingly used to generate text, images, videos and other content by students, professionals, and even some bad actors like scammers and creators of online falsehoods.
In this workshop, find out how you can apply various tools and techniques - as well as NLB’s S.U.R.E. (Source, Understand, Research, Evaluate) steps - to verify and fact-check A.I.-generated content.
Note to participants: While it is not mandatory, participants are advised to attend one of the 101-level talks (listed above), before attending this workshop.

Speaker profiles
Damien Wang (Senior Librarian / Senior Manager)
Damien is a Senior Librarian with more than 20 years of experience in content creation and training. A member of the S.U.R.E. team since its inception in 2012, he has developed courseware and conducted workshops on information literacy and combating fake news. He currently leads a team which develops new content, courseware, and programmes to educate the public about new trends in online misinformation and disinformation, particularly through the use and misuse of generative A.I.
Jessie Yak (Librarian / Manager)
Jessie Yak is an Outreach Librarian, and has been with the National Library Board for almost a decade. She is a bibliophile, who is passionate about promoting the knowledge and importance of information literacy to the public.
Mervin Ang (Librarian / Manager)
Mervin is a librarian and manager with more than 8 years of experience in NLB’s S.U.R.E. team. With his passion and specialty in public education and content creation, he has conducted several talks, workshops and tours to a diverse public audience of more than 40,000 individuals, along with spear-heading various collaborative projects with various agencies and schools.
Nadia Ramli (Librarian / Manager)
Nadia Ramli (Librarian, Outreach) has been with the National Library Board (NLB) for more than 7 years. She has conducted numerous tours and talks for children, students and adults during her time at NLB. She believes that information literacy is an important skill for all ages, be it researching projects for school or discerning information on social media.
